Hoover rallies for tourney win in Arizona

HOOVER 61, BOULDER CREEK 51  Hoover overcame a 32-23 halftime deficit to get a boys high school basketball win in Phoenix.

The Vikings started their run by outscoring Boulder Creek 19-5 in the third quarter.

Nick Evans led Hoover with a game-high 21 points.

Tony Iero hit two 3-pointers and scored 12 points, while Phil Shori added eight points for the Vikings.

Bulldogs bag nailbiter over Westerville North

McKINLEY 55, WESTERVILLE NORTH 53  Paul Ortiz scored 15 points as McKinley held off Westerville North in a home win.

McKinley was trailing 38-36 entering the fourth quarter but rallied for 19 points in the final quarter.

Sam Burton scored 10 points and Marcellius Pittman added eight points for the Bulldogs.

Golden Eagles use 3-pointers to top Dukes

BIG WALNUT 61, MARLINGTON 60  Thomas Mason and Jacob Sawman both had double-doubles for Marlington, but the Dukes suffered a narrow setback at the Newark Catholic Holiday Tournament.

Big Walnut held a 2-1 edge in made 3-pointers, making 10 to Marlington’s five.

Mason had 18 points and 10 rebounds while Sawman had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Tyler Oakes did his part to stay with Big Walnut from downtown as he drilled four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for Marlington.

Logan Boyd was the Golden Eagles leading scorer with 22 points.

Wildcats stifle Warriors during fourth quarter

CANTON SOUTH 55, CARROLLTON 37  Malik Campbell scored 14 points to lead three Canton South players in double figures in a home NBC victory over the Warriors.

Canton South outscored Carrollton 15-3 in the final quarter to pull away and ensure the victory.

Mark Nicoletti scored 12 points for the Wildcats, while Demetrius Barrino added 10 points.

Caleb Pasiuk scored a game-high 16 points for Carrollton.

Lions can’t slow down Leopards’ Hoover

LOUISVILLE 58, MINERVA 49  Blake Hoover poured in 33 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Leopards to an NBC win at home over the Lions.

Hoover sank 12 of 15 shots from the field and went 9-for-11 from the free throw line. Hoover had a big presence inside as he grabbed nine offensive rebounds.

Drew Noble added 12 points for Louisville.

Jantsen Locke had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead Minerva. Kristian Knight and Nick Clapper added 11 points apiece for the Lions.

Balanced Aviators slip past Salem

ALLIANCE 64, SALEM 61  JJ Kukura poured in 20 points as the visiting Aviators held off Salem in NBC play.

Parrish Martin added 17 points and Dale Dickson contributed 15 points for the Aviators.

Alliance was tied 47-47 after the third quarter, but the Aviators outscored the Quakers

17-14 in the final period.

Trojans hand visiting Mustangs PAC-7 loss

TUSKY VALLEY 52, TUSLAW 40  Jordan Felgenhauer put up a stat line of 20 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots for the Trojans, who won a PAC-7 game at home against the Mustangs.

Derek Horstman added 13 points and four assists for Tusky Valley.

Josh Getz’s 14 points led Tuslaw, which trailed 24-11 at halftime.

Manchester finds basket after halftime

MANCHESTER 44, TRIWAY 41  The Panthers outscored visiting Triway by 10 points in the second half to come from behind and win a PAC-7 game.

In a low-scoring affair, Manchester trailed the Titans 19-12 at halftime. The Panthers erupted for 32 points after the break.

Kanyon Collins led Manchester with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Titans got 17 points from Parker Carmichael.

Weyandt layup at horn lifts Falcons

FAIRLESS 51, INDIAN VALLEY 50  Austin Weyandt hit a layup at the buzzer to give the host Falcons the narrow win over Indian Valley in this PAC-7 contest.

Weyandt, who took the ball from half court and dribbled all the way in for the winning shot, led Fairless with 19 points.

Hunter Wells added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Falcons.

Brady Byers’ 21 points and nine rebounds paced the Braves.

Cardinals crush visiting Rockets

SANDY VALLEY 79, CONOTTON VALLEY 52  Senior Nate Shepler scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the first half, as the Cardinals rolled by the visiting Rockets.

Shepler also dished out six assists and hit three 3-pointers.

Austin Neisel added 12 points, Corbin Brown finished with 11 and Darren Finn had 10 for Sandy Valley.

Chad Neisel had nine points and 15 rebounds for the Cardinals.

Slow start dooms West Branch

LISBON DAVID ANDERSON 62, WEST BRANCH 56  Matt Spencer and Austin Rutecki each finished with 15 points to lead the Blue Devils to a win at home.

The Warriors got 13 points apiece from Jerian Thomas and Kip DeShields, while Jake Evanoff had 11. DeShields also grabbed nine rebounds and had six steals.

Indians use Mullane’s double-double to top North

NORTHWEST 64, AKRON NORTH 55  Tristan Mullane scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to give the Indians a home win over North.

Northwest surged on top 16-5 after a quarter on its way to its second win of the season.

Ryan Colby added 14 points for the Indians.

Trarell Balknight led North with 17 points.
