HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE SCHEDULE

Thursday, Aug. 18

Wadsworth at Perry, 6 p.m.

Jackson at Walsh Jesuit, 6 p.m.

CANTON  It turns out defense wins all-star games, too.

Defense certainly made an impact for one team in Saturday’s Repository East-West All-Star Football Game at Fawcett Stadium.

Over 6,000 fans saw three interceptions and a two-point conversion stop become big factors for the West in its 20-12 victory.

The Repository East-West All-Star Football Game’s Kicking Contest semifinals are Tuesday night at 7 at Louisville Stadium.

St. Thomas Aquinas usually goes outside Stark County when hiring a head football coach. The school hired a new football coach Tuesday, and again hired someone from outside the county.

But not someone new to the Aquinas way.

Tim Budd, a 1995 Aquinas graduate, was hired to replace Bob Madden.

LOUISVILLE   St. Thomas Aquinas High School is looking for a new head football — again. Head coach Bob Madden was informed late last week that his contract would not be renewed for the 2011 season after going 5-5, the school’s best record since 2006.

The next coach will be the sixth at the school since 1996.
