Antoine Miles has had a change of heart.
With just over two weeks left until national signing day, the McKinley High School defensive end has changed his verbal commitment from Nebraska to Purdue. Miles made the decision over the weekend after his visit to Purdue.
“It was a comfort factor with me,” Miles said. “Everything was pretty much perfect when I went there. It was as good as it could be. I liked the coaching staff, and feel like they have a bright future ahead of them.”
Miles will play for Darrell Hazell, who recently left Kent State for Purdue after he led the Golden Flashes to an 11-3 record and their first bowl appearance in 40 years.
“I really didn’t have a connection with Coach Hazell before he was at Purdue,” Miles said. “I really didn’t know or speak with him much. I did hear about him changing the program at Kent State around.
“I got a chance to meet and talk with him, and he’s a great guy. I’m sure he’s going to do big things for Purdue.”
Miles is the No. 54-rated defensive end in the nation by ESPN Recruiting Nation Football. He finished with 73 tackles as a senior, including 17 for a loss and 12 sacks.
He may have changed his mind on schools, but not conferences.
“Overall, I really did want to play in the Big Ten,” Miles said. “I’m from Ohio. We all love the Big Ten."
