JACKSON TWP. A big, early hole was too much for the Jackson High School football team to dig out of Friday night as the Polar Bears lost at home to McKinley.
A pair of second-half turnovers helped Jackson pull to within 31-21 before the Bulldogs broke the game open.
Quarterback Grant Seanor was 21-of-31 for 193 yards, throwing a pair of touchdown passes. He hit Jake Batcho from 14 yards out and Casey Irwin on a 16-yard strike. Both of those scores came after fumbled punt returns by McKinley set Jackson up with a short field.
Batcho had seven catches for 94 yards, and Irwin had five catches for 44 yards. Will Logan led Jackson’s ground game with 78 yards rushing on 17 carries.
McKinley took a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 40-yard touchdown run by Elijah Farrakhan. Bryce Wilder made it 14-0 when he went in from 15 yards out.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 21-0 on their next possession as Wilder capped a 10-play, 94-yard drive with a 4-yard run. McKinley took over on the Jackson 6-yard line after stopping the Polar Bears on fourth down.
A 23-yard James Forsythe field goal gave McKinley a 24-0 lead.
Jackson got on the scoreboard with 11 seconds left in the half as Grant Seanor scored on a QB sneak from a yard out.
Farrakhan scored on a 5-yard TD run to put the Bulldogs up, 38-21, and Wilder added two fourth-quarter touchdowns as well.
Farrakhan finished with 187 yards on 22 carries, and Wilder had 117 yards on 21 carries. McKinley QB Kyle Ohradzansky was 5-of-11 passing for 84 yards.
