MASSILLON St. Ignatius's Pat Hinkel had three rushing touchdowns and returned a blocked punt 5-yards for another touchdown as the Wildcats defeated Hoover in the state semifinals at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.
Conner Ryan scored St. Ignatius's other touchdown on a 39-yard pass from Andrew Holland. Ryan finished with 95 yards on five catches. Holland was 18-of-26 passing for 245 yards with two interceptions.
Erick Howard scored Hoover's only touchdown on a 53-yard run in the second quarter. Howard finished with 83 yards on 14 carries.
Jordan Witt also had 32 yards rushing on six carries for the Vikings.
Hoover quarterback Brett Tulodzieski was 8-of-14 passing for 72 yards with an interception.
Dan Nettleton and Joe Cerreta both had an interception for the Vikings.
St. Ignatius advances and will play Cincinnati Elder next weekend in the state championship game.
