AUSTINTOWN Hoover's Erick Howard had another big offensive performance and A.J. Sarbaugh hit some clutch field goals as the Vikings rallied to edge Fitch in double-overtime.

A 21-yard field goal by Sarbaugh with 50 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime and he later kicked the winning field goal in the second overtime.

Fitch scored on the first play of OT on a touchdown pass from Jon Ballard to Sam Mariano. Hoover answered on its possession on a 3-yard TD run by Howard.

In the second overtime, Hoover had the ball first and Sarbaugh kicked a 23-yard field goal to take the lead. Fitch fumbled on third-and-goal from the 1 to end the game.

Howard scored on runs of 10, 1 and 3 yards, as well as a 64-yard touchdown pass to contribute to his 258 total yards.

Fitch's Ballard connected for three touchdown passes — to Quinton Pirl for 6 yards, Terry Terrigno for 57 yards and Mariano for 20 yards. Ballard also ran for a touchdown.

Hoover trailed by 10 midway through the fourth quarter when quarterback Brett Tulodzieski found Howard for a 64-yard touchdown, which cut the lead to three. Tulodzieski completed 19-of-26 passes for 258 yards. Hoover's Dan Nettleton caught 7 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Fitch's Sylvester Gibbs and Nick Groat both added a touchdown run.
